Peaches has a heavy wolf presence now.   If Bethel doesnt have wolves it will shortly.  Apparantly they are in the Wenas now and this side of the Observatory.  That'll fix the sheep pneumonia worries on Clemans in short order.

Unfortunately you're right.  Ashbaugh's started seeing wolves in the Wenas 4-5 years ago.

I have seen 2 wolves in Bethal , 1st one 4 years ago ,  watched this one for almost an hour , the second 3 years ago saw him for about 5 minutes , heard one 2 years ago . Both sightings were in the same canyon .   Have also seen 1 in Tampico on  Short and Dirty Trail and heard them in Rimrock . They are around .

I don't doubt a couple move through from time to time but I wouldn't say there is a bunch of wolves in peaches...I spend a lot of time on both sides of peaches and have yet to see obvious signs of them..

I suspect they pass through back and forth from the teanaway to the rimrock and all area's in between. They have a pretty big range.

In 2016 and 2o17 we muzzy hunted the Nile. Camped high up near Glass Creek in tents.
We’re seeing elk every day. One night six of us were woke up by wolf howling above camp. Didn’t see another elk that week.

Just a skip over to Bethel and Bumping from there.

I'm with Karl.   There are elk everywhere in Bethel.  There might be a random wolf that has passed through the unit but I live in the unit and recreate from east to west in the unit.  I've never seen any sign of them.  What I do see, everywhere in the unit, is elk.  Get off the road, hunt hard, Bethel can be productive.  Or, blame it on the wolves and move on...
Im 20 min from bethel and have recreated in the area my whole life. In the last two years alone between my bull tag and JonathanS's bull tag I've spent EASILY 100 days in Bethel and every bit of 30 nights.  There is elk EVERYWHERE in that unit and I have yet to see or hear any signs of wolves. Not saying it's not possible but I'm extremely skeptical of all the reported wolf sightings  :twocents:

Need to post pics of tracks, wolf crap, or wolves to be credible. A video of them howling will work too.

Closest credible sighting and last wolf I've seen a trail cam pic of off a biologists phone was up the north fork rattlesnake early 2018.

We have hunted the Bethel for close to 50 years, see lots of elk in there too. We keep cameras back in the hills almost all year, we see cats, yotes, deer, bear and LOTS of elk on camera. Have not had one single wolf on film yet. Not saying they haven't been in the 360 unit, just saying they are few and far between if there.

Get off the road? Seems like there is roads upon roads upon roads in that unit, the green dot system goes everywhere. I wonder what the largest distance between roads in that unit is. It seemed like you couldn’t get off a road and go more than a mile without hitting another one. But, I haven’t been in that unit as much as you guys, it just seemed that way when I hunted it.

I wish I had a camera with me on opening day. When a wolf growls at you, you are too close. Would have been a great picture.

Opening day, a wolf growled at me. I think there was a fresh kill near by.
