He was not super photogenic

Next time take the air out of his lungs.  They tend to be much more cooperative for photo opportunities that way.

Im going to have to steal your thunder here bone.  Ive got some big whitetail buck photography to share too ya know.  Nevermind the crappy phone pic, or the glare from my living room window.  This here is the dominant breeder buck on my property this year.  (Yes, he is a buck.  Squint your eyes and look close.)  Of course his claim to the throne may have something to do with the fact that hes the only  buck here this season, but thats besides the point.  Hes the boss, and he has his whole herd of 4 does and 2 fawns all to himself.   :bash:

Man its sad the rapid decline going on.  I know the methow muley herd is the big topic, but man our whitetails all over are tanking rapidly too.  Major changes need to be made.

Bango, do you have trail cams out?  No larger bucks moving around at night?

Not on my property.  Deer are just flat out gone.  Too many predators, and too many people looking to kill any yearling buck they see.  Guarantee you if he would have been seen wandering into the state land across the street during gun season he would have been shot.  These young bucks are just too dumb to not get killed, and theyre slaughtered wholesale.  I know its an unpopular opinion around here, but we really need the 4pt minimum back.  With the trouble our deer are in, an otc modern firearm "any buck" hunt during the rut is just insanity.  With the apr gone for what, 5 years now? All of the ground we gained has been lost.

After 4 years of apr, the improvements it made were obvious.  With it gone 5 seasons now, the backwards slide is just as obvious.

The 4pt apr needs to be permanent, and no antlerless harvest needs to remain in effect until our numbers get back up where they should be, which wont happen unless we start getting our predators under control.
Id be okay with the early modern season being any buck for youth only, if a compromise must be made.  Late season, 4pt min for everybody.

:yeah: it’s been a backwards slide ever since removing the 4 pt. apr,

No, just catching up on pics.   Good luck on your hunt.  Rut will be waning but rattling should still be effective.
