Palouse Late Whitetail Tag Reservation Areas
« on: November 05, 2019, 09:11:36 PM »
I made 3 trips to the Palouse over the summer, calling several hunting by written permission properties to get turned down on everyone.  I tried knocking on doors with no success and spent time scouting the Palouse-Albion feel free to hunt for my backup plan.

So I was finally able to get a few of the hunting by reservation properties after trying for the last week or so. I swear that you have to hit refresh like 3 seconds before the areas open for reservation and I still wasn't fast enough to reserve the properties that I was targeting. Lucky for me, a few guys must have dropped these reservations to reserve other properties for the last couple of days of the season and I was able to finally secure some access. I am just wondering if anyone on here has hunted any of these properties and if you have any advice on how to hunt them since the owner's dont allow scouting before hand.

Here are the properties I was able to reserve and the dates:
1. Little Cove North 11/9 - 11/10
2. Little Goose Dam West 11/15 - 11/16
3. Beacon Hill 11/15 - 11/16

If I can't tag out by the 16th on one of these properties, then I'm stuck hunting the feel free to hunt properties for the last 3 days as I don't have any other private access. I know the last couple of days should be the best as far as rut activity, but I'm honestly just looking to put meat in the freezer since I have very limited access.

Feel free to PM me with any information or tips you might have on these properties or any other areas that have public access that I should check out.

Just be aware the issue that you may have on those properties is you may find only mule deer.

You won’t see any whitetail on two of those properties.

Albion gets pounded by anyone without permission.  Watch your property lines; Lots of folks get tickets by wandering.  I think most of those folks know what they are doing, though.

Bring a shotgun too if you tag out early. Lots of pheasants around Albion. Got to know it really well during college.

scratch off little cove north, thats mule deer country, i have personally hunted it and little cove south, never seen a whitetail. i would not spend the time or effort there, you will be losing a day that could be spent elsewhere.  just my  :twocents:

Well I dropped Little Cove and Little Goose based on some other members recommendations.  I am going to put the OnX to use and try to find some pockets of state land and other FFTH areas as I have a feeling the Palouse-Albion FFTH is going to be busy.  Good luck to all of the other Palouse hunters and I will try to report back with any help I can to you guys.

Best of luck! I've hunted the Albion area for years with great success. You can get deer if you know how they move. You're not going to get a monster but a legal buck is doable.

There are still a few solid bucks running around the FFTH properties. Here's the buck that my cousin harvested this afternoon. Thanks for the advice that everyone provided.
