Boyds Gunstocks
« on: November 12, 2019, 04:09:05 PM »
So I placed an order with Boyds and the order is screwed up. Bad workmanship and getting this corrected is becoming a headache.  So have other people been successful with Boyds and I just ran into a bad deal?

I try to stay positive without going straight into bashing mode on Google reviews and forums but I'm really frustrated..  My intent isn't to bash here but just get some feedback that I made a good choice ordering thru them.

I'm hoping this works out.

I’ve bought two stocks from them with no problem. Good workmanship to. Sorry to hear this. Hope it works out for you.

I've used a few on rimfire rifles, one on a CZ 527 204 I used to have.  They were all pretty decent with no particular issues and though I'm not a real big fan of wood stocks, Boyd's are generally pretty darn hard to beat for what they cost.  Sorry to hear your experience with them, so far, hasn't been all that great but hopefully you'll get it straightened out with them.

I know it's, often, easier said than done, but try and remember the ole saying, you get more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

They seem to get a nod and a nudge from around other sites.  I was looking at the microfit stocks and most of the people with experience using them and some others all recommended going towards Boyd's.  Most saying the stocks were closer to complete than the others--less sanding/shaping/fitting.

What's the issue with the stock?

Sorry I was gone for a week and missed those posts.

So Its a Remington 11-87 and the fore end was only milled out half way down the length of the fore end. The frustrating thing was they (Boyds) said to ship it back and they'll look at it. No apologies and not willing to put the new fore end in in front of their new orders.

So I'm still waiting.

Customer service just sucks.

My first Boyd's is probably 10 years old, super nice stock with tight laminate and excellent finish. The last one I ordered was through Optics Planet a year ago. Boyds Replaced that one for me after I sent them pictures of voids in the laminate. The next one was better but it's no where near on par with the older one. The Laminate looks more like cheap plywood and the finish is sub par. It works, but looks like something that would come on a cheap rimfire rather than a nice aftermarket stock.
