Rufus Woods Guide recommendation?
« on: June 28, 2019, 04:49:58 PM »
Hello everyone.
Long time lurker, first time poster.
I grew up in the Okanogan valley and am returning to visit my parents in early August.  I'd like to take a day with Dad and
take him on a guided fishing trip for whatever might be good at the time.  Any recommendations for a guide?
I don't think I'm interested in the salmon fishing (that I guess may or not occur) because I don't want to pay extra on top of the out of state
license, and well - I hear the salmon near Brewster just aren't all that big.  Maybe I'm wrong.
I'd appreciate any recommendations any of you may have.

Thanks in advance!

Well - I'm walking on faith here and have booked a trip with Jerrod at Okanogan Valley Guide services.  Will report back how it goes.

Whatever is biting.  Hoping for perhaps triploids and walleye, but don't know.

If you want trips, they must have released a bunch a short time ago. was up there two weeks ago and caught one on just about every cast for an hr and a half on a 1/4 once black marabou jig. Took that long to get 2 that I would consider keepers (over 4 lbs) but it was fun. Save your money and go catch them off the bank. Pinch the barbs if you plan on releasing them and your good to go.

Thanks plugger.

I hope to get after a walleye or 2 as well.  With any luck can do a combo trip targeting both.  Wouldn't mind a good rainbow either, but for eating, well, let's just say I'd prefer to sample some walleye.  It's been a lot of years.

Thanks again - I'll report back after the trip.

We ended up fishing out of Brewster and did pretty good.  Chinooks everywhere on the graph but were slow in taking.
Boated 4 salmon (smallest was about 10, largest 25lb) along with a couple of small mouth bass (released) and a darned steel head - was a beautiful fish (also released.
Was happy with Jerrod - was fun to fish with and worked hard.

Thanks for the report.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
