Early season is great because of low pressure but birds are still in bigger flocks, but later is great too because gobblers are lonely and more susceptible but they are pressured already... whats your guys favorite week? mine personally is late april early may because it kinda splits

Yep we have hunted them all. But for the most enjoyable hunt we like first week in May.
Less hunters around. Warmer weather sometimes too.

Hunted opening week for years but after waiting (impatiently) for mid-season to come around the flocks are splitting up and tom's seem to be more responsive to calls.  This year I'm headed to NE WA later this week because it matches the grandsons school spring break.

Last week of April / first week of May has IME been the best, but it is largely weather dependent. Considering the warm winter I would expect the "peak" to be a little earlier.
What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.

My favorite week for others is the week I'm not going  :chuckle:

Later in the season it does get tougher to get out before the sun. 5:30 AM shooting hour at the start of the season vs 4:50 AM by mid-May.

But on the subject of time, I really like mid-afternoon anyways. Pre-dawn is great for locating birds but, if those hens are starting to nest, the afternoon is when the Toms seem to fire back up.

Last year I had success by picking a fight with the hens in a group though. Called her in and the Tom followed.
