THey'll still have some activity clear through much of December, but for the most part its a steep decline off the peak now.  They will crawl back into the hole in the ground that they sprung forth from.   ;)

After seeing what I saw today I now know why all the pictures have been at night. That particular area is heavily pressured and they know it. Not saying you wont get a deer out of there but theres better areas to invest in.

Doesnt necessarily take pressure for a 4.5+ yr old whitetail buck to be nocturnal. All it usually takes is for the velvet to be off

:yeah: that’s been my experience as soon as they lose velvet they go nocturnal. Wondering if anyone knows why?

I don’t believe in the term nocturnal, if I’m getting night pics , I’m not set up in the right area. I believe every buck is killable in daylight with work and determination some are just tougher than others with the terrain they call home. I have been lucky enough over the years to lay eyes almost every buck I am after. I have hunted Whitetails extensively in NE WA and allot in 127, the rut is all but over, I have big groups of does back together , bucks are now coming into feed. It’s pretty easy to monitor rut activity these days with the invention of trail cams. You can really watch deer activity and see it change. My groups of does were all separated a week or so ago when it peaked, as the rut dwindles does group up again. All my buck pics a week ago were bucks chasing does off my feeder, now it’s bucks coming in and chasing does off feeder to eat.

He’s still kicking, hoping he makes it the remainder of season. He’s in eating now.

If you are referring to that DNR than yea. That is a joke and I would never hunt there. Pretty stupid 7 rigs in 200 yards hunting ! I can drive or hike in sane general area and never see a hunter. These are the same people complaining on forums and social media how there’s nowhere to hunt , they don’t see anything , no big bucks . They just don’t get it. I hike around in there and it’s unbelievable where some set up stands and how they set up trail cams it’s no wonder they take nothing.

That's encouraging perspective. If true then I suck worse than I thought  :chuckle:

I've hunted dnr land with similar setups with no problems. This was my first year trying mica because it was a little closer, all the while I was checking cams never saw anyone else till I went in to sit. Disnt realize that many ppl would be there but I had at least sit for a little bit. You said as I did too many ppl in a small area. Not to mention when you have grouse hunters shooting and being loud no deer in their right mind is going to be active in that area during the day.FACT! You yourself dont have any day time pictures. I'm also willing to bet if you do you own a chunk of land, not all of us have access to private like you. Good day sir.

reason they are all night is my cam is 70 yards off my deck  :chuckle: I wouldn’t expect daylight pics. I could kill that big buck in daylight if I wanted too.  A little effort in this area separates people from others. I hunt IEP and have never seen another archer anywhere set up near me. That DNR is a revolving door of vehicles from June to December 15th a little attention to grasses that are plowed down like trails and tire tracks shows how many guys are going in there. Anywhere in this county that is public is overrun with guys. There is a reason there are 0-2 trucks daily at gate nobody wants to hike.

I wonder how these guys expect to kill deer when they’re driving through a unit. Rifle hunters maybe, I just don’t see the sport in it. Hunting deer is hard and should be hard. I can see way more deer and stalk into archery range of them on foot than I ever could stepping out of a truck. I hunt 127. Haven’t hunted mica in a few thanks to people running 4 wheelers thru the IEP while elk hunting. Just thought it sucked I had to hike my self into it a mile and these jokers are running around the mountain on a quad bugling like a trumpet player. Done with my rant, phew

Tons of that country is landlocked by private and most of them have their own private trails right onto IEP roads . I’ve run into several behind gates. One in particular was 2 dips that crossed atleast 6 private lines told them to get out. As I’m walking out in pitch black I hear motorcycles .. here we go again ! It’s the same dudes lost and miles from their truck  :chuckle: all they had was 1 headlamp . I had a older guy on a motorcycle bowhunting Idaho side almost run us over cause he knew he was caught and not suppose to be there, all the while the moron rode right thru a herd of elk we were hunting.
