So I have a day maybe two to try and kill a legal archery buck.  Would you recommend sitting over food all day, food am/pm then sit trails and bedding mid day. What would be your late whitetail archery strategy? Thanks!

Big bucks are coming by my house now every night to eat with 0 interest in does.

If I had a good bait site I wouldn’t hunt am as it’s usually tough to get in morning without bumping deer. When I hunted all day sits in late season I would get in stand around 8 am and sit all day. Other option would be to sit trails, rub lines in am and use a grunt tube, then get in a bait stand around noon.

Huntnw is spot on and brings me back to the days when I’d eat, sleep and breathe archery WT’s.  I’m not exactly sure where he lives but all the info he’s shared closely aligns with the activity I’ve seen of late at my place.  That said, not all hope is gone as this guy showed up with 6 does at 9:30 a.m. today....(Huntnw, hope you don’t mind me chiming in and tossing up a photo).

Thanks man! That is a great buck would love to have that guy show up at the stand. Or his younger sibling not too picky this late in the season!!  Thanks for the feedback still trying to figure these deer out. I bumped and/or still hunted into a buck and doe Saturday and it seemed like he was locked down with her. I should have belly crawled toward him for a shot, but ended up rattling and wheezing with no effect. Got up to see and they bounced off. One thing I’ve learned is when they’re locked down they won’t bump very far. I’ll try creeping into the stand around 8 am next weekend might even sleep in for once.

well the big one survived the hunting season. Hopefully he survives winter he looks very healthy. I will buy a multi season next year and hunt him if I haven't shot a muley.

Think you’ll be able to find his sheds?

I hope, only if the snow stays away. These deer migrate and nobody seems to know where they head I have an idea but its all private and quite a ways away. Once they leave we dont see a single track till mid to late march. He was a nightly visitor for 2 weeks then the last 3 days hes become erratic . I think he may be moving out soon.

Kinda what I was thinking.   Maybe you'll get lucky and he will be an early dropper.

Well the deer finally all moved out yesterday as 27” on the ground with 24” in last 3 days was too much. I had a couple new ones show up this past week with 1 decent mature one. I got pic of what I think is the big buck that has shed sometime within 24 hours as I had him on cam and next day a mature buck cane in bare, so the sheds are near. Maybe even out there buried in snow.

New buck and the buck that shed
