Some bucks on my place
« on: November 21, 2019, 07:25:46 AM »
These deer at my place remind me of migratory Muleys as we don’t see any of these bucks  all year until about Halloween into early November . They stay here till the snow gets to 12” then they migrate somewhere else . Nobody around here knows where exactly where they go, but they start filtering thru in March . We only had a small 4 and spike buck here in the summer. Here are a few that are down here now. I’m waiting on and hoping for a nice 5x5 that’s been here the last 2 years he seems to show up when snow flies. The one big one will peak my interest next year if he survives archery season and winter . He’s 4.5 this fall .

My property is the same....I can't wait to get up and check trail cams in the next month or so.  Small bucks and does all spring, summer and early fall.  The big boys show up for the rut.  I think the big boys are in the area but stay hidden in the thick nasty brush till breeding time.   :dunno:

Several of us in this valley feed them and run cams and nobody sees any deer hardly when we should . It’s a mystery to us. We have a huge mountain out the door, streams , ag fields within a mile and the deer are just not here. I know where the big one is in the summer now. A guy I know has him on cam every summer he’s a few miles away .

What a great problem to have  :chuckle:. Some nice bucks there for sure. I would not be a bit surprised to see them several miles away for the summer. But cool they swing by each year!

All our west plains whitetail really migrate out too. I have barely any deer living here until September through late November. They all head down to the lake as far as I can tell.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

starting to notice the rut is starting to dwindle as groups of does are back and less activity

no, by far the best window to hunt whitetails in most units is Nov 20-24th yes you might hunt a certain hill where there will be a hot doe before and after the prime dates. It has drastically dropped off around my place.

From my experience if mature and young bucks have not been in front of the cam in the middle of the day, then they are not full swing. My guess is they are locked down.mature bucks can disappear and bread for 3-5 days. One hot doe can lock them down again after breeding. Then again everywhere is different. Thanks for the updates sharing the awsome bucks! For my sake and other fellow archers I hope I'm right!
