I know I sure do appreciate the advice Karl has given me. He is definitely an asset to the forum.

And just so we are all completely clear, I like DV. I think he's a good hunter and family man. Anyone who can raise that many girls and keep his sanity has to be a solid individual  :chuckle:  I've got 3 pages of notes on Wyoming elk units I'll never have the points to draw to prove it. I get 20+ PM's annually asking about units, states, specific hunts etc and I try to answer them all honestly and thoroughly. Whether its hunts I know, hunts I don't know, etc. Juat this year I mailed my personal paper maps of a CO unit complete with specific spots to a member. Another member I met at his work to go over maps.  That guy killed a STUD buck on that hunt too which I absolutely love! Gives me great satisfaction to be a small part in someone's success though a small part.

Now you’re gonna get 200+ pms asking for help  :chuckle:

I feel like Newberg shouldn’t drop so many hints about the area, it’s not necessary. It’s almost like a commercial for gohunt. “You too can find hunts like this if you subscribe to gohunt”, and don’t forget to use the promo code Randy!

This forum sure is an interesting place.  There's currently a giant thread condemning Steve Rinella for mentioning what unit he hunted in during a episode.  If you believe half the folks on that thread he singlehandedly ruined blue mountains elk hunting.  On this thread we have a guy looking for a specific unit based on a show and people are condemning Randy Newburg for taking added steps to make sure that it was harder to identify.  We have Jrebel essentially saying you deserve to have your spots taken if you post a pic yet there is a dozen posts mentioning "man how come no one posts pictures anymore"

For the record I think swiping or attempting to swipe spots based on pics, video, etc is pretty darn lame.  Networking or getting intel is one thing but the new version of cyber scouting that has led to everyone being afraid to post any background is a sad state of affairs.

I'll also vouch for Karl as a standup guy with extreme willingness to help.  He doesn't know me from adam but several years ago he was nice enough to give me some pointers and starting points in Montana that led to a successful first out of state trip.  There has been many more since but those first tips helped me get my feet wet.

Feet dry out yet?
