Just my experience but they are solitare as the does estrus cycle is over pretty much. So find their food sources and hunt those areas as they try to build back up fat reserves.

I don't know what I did to deserve the help that JakeLand offered to me. All I have to say is thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction and double thanks for helping pack this big boy off the Mountain. This is by far the biggest Blacktail I've ever taken and I owe every ounce of that to Jake.
I was hiking up through a clear cut glassing every few steps and as I started to be able to see past a certain slash pile this guy stood out like a turd in a punchbowl. This buck was bedded at 60 yards from me and I instantly saw antlers above the ears and knew he was a shooter. The Buck wasn't spooked and hadn't seen me so I figured I'd shoot him in his bed. One well placed bullet from the old Knight Bighorn had him down instantly. I called Jakeland and he dropped what he was doing to bring up his deer hauling bike and carrier and we got him off the mountain. It's a 5x4 with eyegaurds but 2 of those points come off a separate beam off his driver side. Thanks JakeLand, I owe you huge!
For you Muzzy guys out there, I was shooting the Barnes 290gr T-EZ bullets and I retrieved it in the offside shoulder (in through his neck) and weighed the bullet, 288 grains and fully mushroomed just like the package shows.

That's a beautiful buck Steve!! Congrats on a fine animal and kudos to Lakeland for helping out. Looks like he gained any weight lost during the rut. Nice Roman nose. Had you seen this buck around prior Lakeland?
