Passed SW Goose Identification test

So I can identify a dusky goose on the computer. What is the best way to ID them in the field? Just don't shoot any dark colored geese? Thanks, 253shotgunner

They’re very dumb birds, compared to the others, if you see them coming in and you know they see you but don’t change their direction or altitude, they’re probably duskys. Serious they’re dumber than the others.

I wonder if there are less waterfowl hunters in GMA2 because of the test and the risk of accidentally harvesting a dusky. My hunting buddy won't take the test (its easy) or pay the extra $13.20 to hunt GMA2. I think I need a new hunting partner.

Don’t shoot the red collared ones!
It just takes time in the field. They do really stick out like a sore thumb. My buddies and I have hunted the region and have only shot one, and it was a jump shot off a dike. Had a red collar on which was the dead give away but there was no way for him to catch that in the moment.
They come in overly easy. They’ll be the big bird in a flock of smaller geese. Just because it’s a solo or double doesn’t mean it’s a dusky. After a couple hunts you’ll see what it takes to get a goose down and then if ever you see a dusky it will be clear as day. They are much, much darker.

Are you saying you can't field judge a 35mm vs 45mm bill length on a flying goose?!?!?! Haha!
Pass on the dark and dumb ones and you should be okay.
