NEW Glock 44 22.LR

Just thought I would share that there is a new Glock coming out, the Glock 44 which is going to be 22.LR all the info is in the video below. I personally don't care for Glocks (or that the slide is polymer on this model and MSRP is $400) but I thought I would share for those that are into Glocks and want a Glock 19 in 22LR. I could see some guys really making this a bad a$$ 22LR plinking toy.

Yea I'm not super impressed with this especially the mag. The aftermarket I'm sure will provide some bigger ones for sure, that is the one thing that makes me jealous of Glock owners, the aftermarket for parts and whatnot is insane.

I'm sure the Glock folks will love this new gun but there are already quite a few great little 22's out there so it'll be interesting to see how much of the market share they can carve out for themselves.

If you don't like a Glock, maybe this one doesn't make much sense. (One can always count on the Glock haters to crawl out of the woodwork and speak their mind anytime a Glock product is announced.) But for guys who do like and shoot Glocks, having one in 22LR does make sense, and it makes sense for it to be the same size as their most common carry gun.

One part of your comment that stands out to me is there are quite a few great little 22s out there. Most of those are very little, rather than the size of a normal pistol. It looks to me like a good middle ground between the little 22 pistols (Walther, Ruger, etc) and the bigger stuff like Buckmarks and Mk I/II/III etc.

Your assumption that I'm a "Glock hater" is misguided and wrong.  Am I a die hard Glock guy, nope, but I've owned a few and still have the longer brother to the G19, a G17 Gen4.

Almost forgot, I have a G19 also, but it's a CO2 BB gun.

I think the issue with more than 10 rounds in the mag has to do with the rimfire cartridge configuration. It is not really double stackable. It would be interesting to see if some aftermarket guys could do a 10/22 type of configuration in a glock mag and double the capacity. Have no fear the aftermarket fellas are already on it. Also I’ll bet glockmiester or lone wolf are already working on a threaded barrel.

100% you know the aftermarket is going to be crazy. Also I think they have it with only 10 rounds so they can ship it and get it approved everywhere. They know that other and maybe even themselves will come out with larger mags. If Kel-tec can make a quad stack 33 round 22lr and Taurus can make a 16 round 22lr I don't doubt Glock can.

I don't know if something like this will work on this new Glock but I ordered kits that changed the follower and spring in the mags for my M&P Compact 22LR and if I recall, it increased the mags by 4-5 rounds.  Maybe somebody will come up with a kit like that for these.

I was referring to all of the complainers on this and every other thread online about the G44. There are plenty of guys who like Glocks and will buy one of these, but of course there are the glock haters who always want to complain about anything Glock does. "They aren't innovative." "It's not new." "I'm disappointed they didn't announce what I wanted." etc.

Of course we don't see anyone complaining about Glock reliability, unlike the myriad of issues with other small 22 pistols.

A .22 that easily fits in a G17 or G19 holster?  Yeah, that's a great idea, especially for new shooters learning to draw from a holster and from concealment.  If it has an "actual" Glock trigger, even better to learn on a .22 since all of you pull your Glocks low left!    

If MSRP is $400, maybe we'll see it for $350?  Can't go wrong with that.

10 rounds is a bummer but I can't see it being much more than a trainer and a plinker and learning to change mags isn't bad either.  I used to shoot tons of rim fire learning to call shots and "get my eyes right".  I hated loading up those Buckmark mags after awhile, they would tear my hands up, hopefully these are better?

The 10 round is probably just to standardize for states with caps.

I'm sure a third party will create an extended magazine.

I just don't see it being worth it over 9mm for practice.

Better off buying cheap 9mm ammo and practicing with the gun you carry.
