Manners EH6 or McMillan GameWarden
« on: December 28, 2019, 09:05:50 PM »
Debating between these two stocks for my new build. I will be using a Rem 700 SA with a Proof Sendero light barrel. Never seen or handled either stock. Is it all preference? I was talking to a McMillan rep and they said it will be a 4-6 month wait.

Anybody handled both stocks before?

Any input would be appreciated. First rodeo piecing together a rifle.

Both are great. I still have one eh6 and one eh6a. If you shoot prone a lot the grip on the game warden is mo better as the eh6 is really open. The eh6 is a great all around hunting stock though. I prefer manners at this point but that’s completely subjective.

I have the game warden and a manners eh1 so no experience with the eh6.  I prefer the McMillan to manners feel wise to me, If you plan on laying prone a lot I would go with the mcmillan with the steeper hand grip.. both great stocks though.

Two completely different feeling stocks.  Manners will send you a dummy stock to test for feel.  McMillan won't.  The Eh6 is pretty traditional if that's what you are looking for.  The Game Warden would be my preference.  I would stay away from anything with a drop comb - too much muzzle rise if prone.

I use the EH1 which I'm happy with for 1000 yard rifle but for light field use the slightly smaller game scout or hunter would be my preference.

I wouldn’t get a game scout or game warden without adjustable cheek rest.

Thanks for the offer but I live on the east side of this state.

I do shoot prone alot so I guess that kind of rules out the EH6.

I wouldn’t get a game scout or game warden without adjustable cheek rest.

I will be adding a kydex cheek riser to save some weight. But I guess I'll just have to wait 4-6 month's for the McMillan Game Warden.

Thanks for all the replies.

I’ve got an eh1 you are welcome to check out in Spokane if you like.

Also google stock doc. He adds adjustable cheek pieces for like $150 that are internal and only add 4-5 oz to the stock. I haven’t had him do any for me but his work looks nice on Instagram.  :chuckle:

Have you checked out AG Composite stocks?  I think mine took about a month from order to delivery.

Thank you I will keep that offer in mind. As for the cheek piece I will most likely get a Bradley adjustable one if I do end up needing one.

No I have not. Never heard of them.

I will have to take a look.
