I tried that once.  It was a cluster.  Traffic was a beast.   I was hoping for something that wasnt in someones yard, but maybe thats what it takes these days.  I see why most of the wildlife photographers are so content with Arsenal.

Now if Bucknorris was still alive......  His kids should be popping up.

I have archery hunted down by Summer Lake south east of Bend and just NE of the town of Paisley. We saw lots of nice mulie bucks there is Sept. years ago..I think the name of one of the roads taking off of the main Hwy was Government Harvey Pass. Just don't go into the local watering hole wearing camo.... There is a hot springs right at the end of the lake where the Indians would have their winter encampments...Lots of obsidian in the local hills.
Thanks for all for your past support...We officially pulled the plug and have retired from the Biz. Still dabble a little in real estate.

You should post up on ifish. Lots of former tag holders and ppl who know the area.

I'll certainly comb some other sites.   I was hopeing we might have some Oregon transplants here.   At least here folks know me and know that I'm not going to ruin anything or hunt/steal their spots.

Thats me but i don't know metolius very well. I can tell you that its not what it once was. Heavy hunting by a user group with unlimited access
what in the wild wild world of sports???

I lived in Sun River 14’ , 15’ and 16’ spent most of my time in Upper Deschutes between 3 Sisters and Bachelor. Poked around in November each yr and never could quite pinpoint a rhyme or reason to seeing the mature deer. They just kind of appeared in the pines and juniper and then were gone. No real congregating of herds it seemed, I had heard those winters were fairly mild so that could be skewing what I was learning.

Spent little time around Camp Sherman. Never saw a true giant but enough decent bucks to dream of drawing. Never happened, then I moved.  :chuckle:

Would love to someday head back to shed hunt some of the areas I learned. Good
Luck in your search!

This reminds me, I have a photo somewhere of a huge pine tree on a FS rd in the Metolius. Large font paint read  “No poaching Dave!”

:chuckle: Could be an issue in there.

Ya pop can. He was killed by maybe an auction tag holder maybe? Can’t remember. The kill drew lots of criticism. I know that much.
