2 different bucks, same exact score
« on: December 12, 2019, 01:04:01 PM »
While I preach in the "Numbers Game" thread about not reducing animals down to numbers, I've done exactly that.  :chuckle:  I still stick to my guns about respecting the animal for what it is and not the inches of bone on it's head, but it is interesting for me to compare different animals with unique features and see how they compare. This was the perfect example.

I've never killed a buck that ever interested me in scoring until a couple years ago, then got another one this year. My curiosity got the best of me and I put the tape on them.

The results were very interesting. To me anyway. I figured they would be close, but really had no idea as I'd never scored an animal before. They are quite different animals in all regards, mass, length, width, etc...

They both came to the exact same net, and within 1.5" of gross.

Next year I'll step into the woods with the goal of a nice 2 or 3 pt again, but hope for an opportunity at one of these fellas. They are a bit habit forming.

Thanks Bone. The 2017 buck reminds me of the buck you posted a while back, El Groucho. With those super defined eye brows. He was a gorgeous animal, I really wish I'd saved the cape on him.

I'd call them nice 160 class bucks.    If you wanted to "categorize them" :chuckle:

I havent opened your numbers thread.   I'm afraid to now.

Those are two great bucks in relatively short time period.   One more and I'd say you have things figured out!

No better way to learn"what it takes" than to see a buck, shoot the buck, and score the buck.

Amazing animals. Well done.
