Wolf kill
« on: December 14, 2019, 05:41:17 PM »
I found this kill originally in September while elk hunting. Went back to take pictures and document it. When I first found it there were still birds around but pretty much just skin and bones. Lots of wolf tracks!

This wasn't dead of winter with feet of snow, it was pre rut, and seems to me this bull was getting close to prime. maybe it was ticks that slowed him down  :dunno: or maybe it was the fact that if these wolf packs get big enough there's not a moose that stands a chance if they really want to eat?

How old do you think this bull was?

Probably 7 or 8 I would guess.  I think you are right about pack size. Healthy or not they aren’t fighting off 8 or 10 determined wolves
