Last day whitetail anyone?
« on: December 14, 2019, 07:23:00 PM »
Well I’m ditching my 101 spot and going to 204 tomorrow. Gonna try for literally anything. Really hate watching the 3 bucks and about 10 does that feed around our place every day.

Anyone else putting all the chips on the table tomorrow?
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

I'll be there.

Last minute 15th buck 2018.

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Last minute 15th buck 2018.

I did the same thing last year.  30 minutes left on the 15th.  Held out til the end for the one i was hunting.  Let some bucks walk that were a hell of a lot better than the one i killed.  No regrets.

I'm thinking about it. Anything I do will be a hail mary though. This is my first archery season and I obviously have a lot to learn still. Haven't even seen a daylight doe while hunting...I thought I was better than that by now  :dunno:

Threw my Hail Mary and got a shot on a doe but I blew it. Hit a branch- shoulda crouched and I’d have a dead doe!

In the dark I was driving up checking tracks on the road and at first light I had found a fresh buck track(so I hoped) and I went off following it. Found a crusty bed not far into the woods and about 3/4 mile later I found a fresh bed, pee in it that was stinking up the area but the buck stood then jumped and ran into a creek bottom. Followed and another mile or 1 1/4 miles I found another bed that I definitely bumped him from. Found steaming poo and pee on his trail, was on it for 3 hours total but finally listed the track after the last bump. Great area for next year though, tons of rub lines and deer trails. He went into a area with a lot of blow downs and lots of deer trails crossing through and then I came up out of that bottom and was face to face with a moose!

He made some crazy sounds. Like a growl/clearing throat/start of a yeti yell. It even made like a vibration feeling like when a Tom gobbles right outside your blind. It was pretty cool. He had some trees rubbed in the area but no paddles on his head so we’re gonna bring our pup into there and see if he can find an antler.

On my drive down the mountain some does were on a hill feeding. I jumped out of the truck around a corner and came stalking back up but the does spotted me and started up the hill. One stopped at 53 yards, I put the 60 yard pin on it thinking the range finder was hitting the tree in front of it and yeah, halfway there the arrow hit a branch like an inch thick and sent the deer up and over the mountain. Didn’t think there was that much rise... now I’m replaying it wondering if the 50 pin woulda avoided that branch.

Hopefully you other hunters harvest something!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen
