Early Bushcraft Scouting Trip 2019

The tag is notched, and the freezer is full of venison --but it's never too early for a reconnoiter.  Winter bushcraft trips stretch the legs, and give you time to study the travel habits of animals.  Getting out and "Keeping It Real".

I spent a lot of time out in the winter.  Not much the last 10 years or so, especially the last 5.   Its a nice time out there if you know what you are doing.

I am Pretty much out every weekend scouting, changing cam cards I can get to if there's not too much snow. It's been good this year with the low snow amount. Great way to keep on hiking shape and see what kind of animals are out and about
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.

Yes, it sure has been a good winter for access and low snow.  During this trip, there was a slick layer of snow over the twigs, so we weren't able to step out too fast for decent exercise.  Still only about 1/2" in central WA right now.  More on the hilltops.
