winter camo: Kings Camo review
« on: December 20, 2019, 09:19:11 AM »
pretty good deal on this stuff, I just bought a whole set

https://www.kingscamo.com/collections/snow-shadow/products/storm-fleece-snow-camo-bundle-1

I hope it works good.  only drawback i see is I might get snow down the crack of my butt if I sit against a tree and the pants aren't held high and tight.   I got some nice suspenders though.

https://www.suspenderstore.com/rugged-comfort-suspenders-belt-loop/

belt loop style, so I can wear them with anything I can put a belt on.

Haven't gotten to try it out yet hunting, but I put it on and modeled it around the house.   The stuff feels robust, solid and very well made.

It's not as light as high end gear and I'd like it to be a bit lighter weight, but it isn't super heavy or anything, I just like high end stuff.
The price definitely makes this easy to overlook.

I do like the built in boot gaiter, hate having really loose pant legs to snag and make noise, these cinch up tight around your boots.  I like the pockets!

It is fairly quiet, but it's not as quiet as pure wool,  I have a set of pure wool I wear when I want to be most sneaky, these will make some noise, but not nearly as much noise as my set of winter game hides, those are way loud.   If gamehide is a "10" on noise and wool is a "1"    these would be a 3 on noise.

I'll update when I actually hunt in them.   I have a suspision they're going to get heavy when wet.   Hopefully I don't sweat them out from the inside, they do have under arm vents to help that.

All in all, I'm stoked with it for the price I paid.   Hope it helps.

too heavy, too bulky, no stretch and doesn't move with you, if you hunt hard and long save your money and get high end gear so you can move!

that said, this stuff would be fine for someone who parks the truck and walks in 1/4 to 1/2 mile or so, enough they don't get hot and sweaty,  calls for 30 minutes or less, then back to the truck.  It would not be good for a long cross country hike, which is where I'm heading.

I like to park the truck, work a whole drainage down to the bottom, get on the ATV/Snowmobile then head back up to the truck parked at the top.  Could be miles between pt A and pt B

This isn't the right gear for that.

I've had my eye open for some new stuff as well.   Difficult to find "active  wear"

My favorite winter/late fall hunting gear right now is Cabela's wool stuff I bought quite a while ago.

It's wool, but out in the wet snow all day long sitting in it, walking in it,  and I didn't feel wet at all.

but I don't like looking like a "brown furry object" calling lions in the brush.  Nor do I wear a fur beaver hat while calling cougar  :chuckle:

The wooltimate stuff?

I think it is, but they changed the camo pattern from my darker stuff and I don't know if they changed the blend??   I bought it a number of years ago!

I've eyeballed it a couple times.  A lot of reviews mention that it starts stinking bad.

Part of me wonders if thats just because they didnt take care of it.   I have some old school wool when stuff is hitting the fan.
