i just got back, couldn't make it past 2300 feet and theirs a tree across the road up to camp 7, i didnt have my chain saw  :bash: that wont happen again. i did find my first elk sheds  :whoo: a huge 6 point and then about 30 feet from that a 8 point, both left antlers. the six point was dropped within the last few days but the 8 point had been there a while. it was pretty cool

PICS?!
I've hunted almost everyday of my life, the rest have been wasted.

Still a tad early I think to find fresh peels.  One good indicator of when they are likely to start is when the Doug Fir start to candle (new growth).

Went up yesterday and found 3 peels from last spring but didn't see any old ones from previous springs or any new ones for this year.  Will probably go back and check out the area in a few weeks.
When the sap starts running in the trees, which will be soon, especially warm weather will get the trees going, the bears will start peeling.
