Toy Haulers
« on: January 02, 2020, 07:50:18 AM »
I'm in the market for a Toy Hauler, and I'm looking to get some opinions.

It'll be a fifth wheel, and I want a separate garage.  I don't need a massive house on wheels, just large enough for a couple bikes.

I also want quality, I'm a buy once type of guy.

I have owned a few bumper tow trailers, and tow a goose neck and 5er regularl for work and play. I know which Bumper tow brands are best, but the toy hauler world is new to me.
I've toured a few, and will hit the shows to tour some more over the next month or so.

So any help would be great.

Not sure of your budget but being a buy once kind of guy check out the Grand Design models
https://www.granddesignrv.com/

My brother in law bought one recently and after seeing it, my wife and i have been looking at them. Some of the nicest rigs i have been in and inspected.

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

I have to friends with one year old grand momentum's that have both spent half their life in getting repairs. seem to be just as crappy quality as the rest of them. I don't think there is a rv that is a buy once cry once. they just don't last.

Do you know which type of repairs?

Most GD reviews I’ve seen that have had issues have been with apppliances.  Mostly the fridge.

Lots of water leak issues one they couldn't figure out at the repair facility and had to be repaired elsewhere and fight over payment. Lots of fit and finish repairs right away on trim windows alignment of doors, tables. When looking for their leak the trailer was taken apart extensively and they were able to see how poorly all the fancy self leveling, appliance, lighting etc wiring is looks like a bargain trailer under all the fancy coverings. But hey i dont mind the heated  massaging recliners and big screen tv after a hard day playing, when its at camp not the repair shop.

If you’re on the south end, the tacoma dome rv show is in two weeks. It’s a good place to get ideas on what you like and don’t like.

The wife and I will be there.  That and the Seattle show.

And probably the boat show too.  :chuckle:

I’d like to hit the Tacoma show with my wife. I’m looking for a small-med toy hauler bumper pull. Big enough for bikes or 4wheeler or my beaver tail/Jon boats

Me too. The rv show & sportsmans Show are some of my favorite things in the winter.
