Might want to change the county it was shot in.

Thats not the bull we ate talking about.   It is the darker horned one.

Correct me if I am wrong but by the state the division line between roosevelt classification and rockies is I 5.  If that elk was shot east of I 5 by state regs it is a rockie mountain elk.  So I would think it wouldn't qualify as a roosevelt state record.  Yes I know that there are plenty of roosevelt elk east of I 5

According to boone and crockett's definition, youre right.

"Roosevelt’s elk are acceptable from Del Norte, Humboldt and Trinity Counties, California, as well as that portion of Siskiyou County west of I-5 in northern California; from west of Highway I-5 in Oregon and Washington; from Vancouver Island, B.C.; and from Afognak and Raspberry Islands of Alaska. The Alaskan animals are the result of a successful transplant from the Olympic Peninsula of Washington. To date no trophies from Alaska have been entered that reach the current all-time records book minimum score of 290. Most of the entered trophies to date have come from coastal Oregon and Washington, with a smaller number from Vancouver Island."

The NW big game record book, which is what this was all for, has a designation for cascade Roosevelt elk, which is what that bull would be.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

so the discussion of that bull doesn't keep diluting the original bull killed by the OP.

It has only been a few comments and now back on track.  I wasn't sure which bull he was looking for so I posted the to pics.  Other thread will remained locked.  Enough said on other bull.  Awesome bull buckjunkie I would assume a first place?  I did see a monster shoulder mount wheeled out Sunday that I hadnt seen so I was wondering.

My bull was the highest scoring Non Typical Rocky Mountain Elk entered for Washington at the Puyallup show this year. Based on the current on-line records, it should be #10 in that category. I don’t know who took best of Show or what place I came in. It was noisy and hard to understand. I won a archery target and some broadheads.

The way I understand it, the entries that score the highest in their category place the highest in the overall competition. There were some amazing trophies down there. New state record Black Bear, new state record archery Cascade Roosevelt, a giant youth Rocky Mtn Elk to name a few.

Good competition...Congratulations to all!

That youth one must have been the shoulder mount.  Young kid was pulling the wagon with a huge smile.  It was a beast.  Congrats again.

The way they do it is they have a formula that compares your animal to the current #1 in the books. Not the current ones being entered at the show.

So say your number 1 elk may have been biggest and been the top one entered in that category at the current show. However you said it would be number 10 in the books.

Some guy could have like a # 1 bear at the show that is going in the all time books at #5 so even though your both first place for that show in each of your areas. His bear would place higher in the completion and prizes then your elk.

Hope that makes sense.

Beauty of a bull! Where did you get him scored? I shot a giant in AZ this year and I'm struggling to find a SCI measurer.
