Thats great, a resses pb cup tastes like lot better than a mouthful of oats too.  But since the op was asking specifically about protein, im assuming thats his main concern.  Not what is a tasty sugary snack.

When it comes to taste the blueberry cobbler cliff is hard to beat, agreed higher in sugar than ideal but on par with snickers for taste

On par with snickers for taste because its full of sugar, basically a candy bar itself.  Damn near half the country is either dependent on insulin, or soon will be.  Because everybody eats garbage loaded with high fructose corn syrup and/ or sugar.  Its insanely prevalent in peoples diets.  All the breads, condiments- ketchup, barbeque sauce, teriyaki etc etc.  Start looking at ingredient labels and nutritional labels.  Sugar, sugar, sugar .  Get off that *censored* if you dont want to have diabetes and end up rolling around tte grocery store in a scooty puff, grabbing your soda off the shelf while wearing a compression sock on the one foot that hasnt yet been amputated.

Lol. I get the rant, but I aint gonna stop eating snickers  :yike:

Most jerky is loaded with refined sugar too.  Those jack links kippered beef strips (peppered and original) arent bad ( im sure the teriyaki ones are loaded with sugar though).  And the stryve stuff is sugar free.  Its expensive, but the grocery outlet here in town sometimes has the stryve stuff dirt cheap, and its 0 sugar.

A ziplock full of nuts, some jerky, and another bag of hard boiled eggs is a pretty standard backpack meal for me.

Not one of the things you listed is a protein bar though.

The question is recommended protein bars

But on the topic of nuts, black walnuts have the highest protein content of any tree nut, and i also think they taste the best.  Theyre pretty pungent, some people probably wont like them, but i think theyre great.  Never seen them in a store, i order them off amazon.  Im planning on planting a half dozen black walnut trees at my house this spring.  From what ive read they should do well here, as long as the damn bears dont rip the fences down so the deer can eat them, which is what happened to several of my chestnut trees.

Im guessing those are what jrebel was talking about.  I rarely get to a costco, but im curious to check them out.  Do they taste like butt, or are they halfway palatable?
