Premiere protein bars at costco. Lots o protein without a lot of carbs.

Im guessing those are what jrebel was talking about.  I rarely get to a costco, but im curious to check them out.  Do they taste like butt, or are they halfway palatable?

They actually aren’t too bad

I think "not too bad" is sbout as much as you can ask for from a low sugar / high protein bar.

They do have a bit of a funky after taste

Thats not enough to scare me off from at least trying them if theyre nutritionally efficient and cost efficient.  I like protien bars because you can throw a few in your pack and be good to go.  Its not about gourmet dining, its about convenient calories and protein.

17 grams of protein to 645 calories is a terrible ratio compared to a decent protein bar.  Compare that with the crispy pb metrx at 30gr protein to 300 calories.  You get almost 4x the protein per calorie.   And i see 100gr carbs.  How much is sugar?  Im guessing way more than 17 grams.  The metrx has 2 or 3.  Once again this is s recommendation for a sugar snack, not a protein bar

Last time I checked you didn’t start the thread, I am replying to the OP. And yes this isn’t solely a protein bar, it has a bit of everything in it to sustain your hunt. It will fuel your body better and longer than a 20 gram protein bar will.

No, i didnt start the thread mr smarty pants.  But the name of the thread is "recommended protein bar" yet everybody keeps recommending a bunch of random prepackaged foods that are higher in sugar than protein, just because thats what they like for snacks.

You may as well recommend your favorite mtn house, cause you think its yummy.  Or what type of cold leftover papa murphys you like to bring in your pack.   it would be just as relevant

If a guy was asking for opinions on a muzzy, would everybody recommending bolt guns and shotguns be the thread "evolving?"  And im not stopping the thread from doing anything.  I cant censor anybody.  Just pointing out thst the op asked a specific question, and that question wasnt "what is your favorite backpack snack?"

Three Natures Valley protein bars in your grocery breakfast section has 570 Calories, 30 Gr protein, 36 Gr Fat, 45 Carbs.   Probably a lot better for you ???

2 times I found something in my cliff bar. One time some wood, like a piece of pallet. I called them and they sent me some coupons. They wanted the wood back and sent me an envelope.

One time I got a piece of yellow paper in a “pure protein “ bar. I called them, I remember they were in Canada. They weren’t particularly nice on the phone so I don’t buy those anymore.

We generally get our protein from the meat of our kills. Cut some back straps into bar shapes and roast over an open fire. Pure as the day is long!
Slap some bacon on a biscut and lets go, were burrnin daylight!

That was protein wood  ;)

I once found several chunks of broken glass in a tin of kippered herring.  Didnt bother contacting them, figured they would think i was making stuff up for a lawsuit.

Last I checked snacks dont have different seasons. Regardless the point is other people are pointing out good options similar to bars that could be helpful
