Here are my two current go to options.  The protein to sugar ratio is right and they taste great to me, but I will leave others to decide whether they are "bars".

Bavarian Meats Landjaeger Original Sausage:

Mission Meats Keto Grass Fed Beef Bars:

What hasn’t been mentioned is the carbohydrate factor in these bars. Hiking/hunting takes energy and you get energy from carbs. They have up to 30grms of carbs which give you the energy until you can eat a meal. Protein is definitely needed, but don’t be scared of the carbs.....you need them.

2nd the landjaeger, just got turned on to these in the past year or so. Rx bars are a decent quick snack as well as One bars.

I have learned that the more chewy dense type (like the Rx) tend to get hard as rocks when the temps drop. I'll usually throw it in my back or chest pocket to warm up a little while glassing etc.

Also, if it matters, check to see what the primary protein is. I have noticed that soy protein gives me stomach cramps.

I believed for a time that the right protein bar could be the answer to the inconvenience of needing the body fueled in the backcountry.  I have come to the conclusion that they are heavy, expensive, and taste like the bottom of a dumpster was scraped up and blended with peanuts.  I would take a handful of raw oats and nuts and chocolate any day over any protein bar on the market.  I think I’ve tried them all.  You don’t need a scientifically balanced diet on the trail unless you’ve been living in a refugee camp for several months on UNHCR powdered milk and black market ramen noodles.  Even then, you’d probably be fine on that same diet.  Good luck in your hunt though.  I definitely understand it.  For me personally, the best way to stop worrying about food and focus on the backcountry was to stop reading labels and just put food in my bag.  Real food.  Protein bars taste so artificial to me, that the experience is on par with watching Netflix in a deer stand.  It mentally takes me immediately out of the backcountry/hunt/hike, and shoves me rudely back into a Walmart aisle.  Maybe I should try grubs and a loincloth, or hunting with that guy WDFW just busted for hunting in his boxers.

I've been enjoying the RX bars. They do get stiff when its cold, but I like that its a decent amount of protein, just a few simple ingredients, no added sugars. There are other similar bars out there too but I haven't explored them yet.

These are the ones I was talking about.  They are awesome.  Not much of the chocolate brownie fan but they are edible.  They will get hard when cold so put them in a pocket for a bit while you hike to soften them up.

I like the RX Bars with a tub of peanut butter for more calories.

I OD'd on Clif bars back when they were the best option and now I have a hard time eating them.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
