Eberlestock pack build
« on: January 17, 2020, 09:54:28 AM »
Got a F1 frame given to me.
I have one of the packs and love it.
I don’t think this is my pack I will carry all the time, but until then this is my spring bear pack for this year.
I got the bat wings and thicker belt. Anyone else put one together and what accessories did you end up liking?

yes, that works well, i have all you are interested in adding. My batwing had a failed zipper last fall, they replaced for free the zipper. they are comfortable to use and have unlimited potential options. Downside is the location of scabbard makes rapid use a big no go, the drybag with wings makes for lots of storage. only missing feature from EB is a pouch tie for a bladder but you can put in a wing or bottom of drybag if you have enough hose...

So not sure if I should go with dry bag option or the spike duffle

You can also get a camp bag from Kifaru. It’s 4800 CI vs the spike duffle at 2400 CI. I use the camp bag with my Nomad bag and can get 10 to 12 days out of it
The mountains are calling and I must go

not sure how to access duffle but dry bag has a roll/latch top for access while attached to pack

It’s cheaper. It’s easier to get to stuff. It also zips to bat wings.
It’s a bit smaller , pros and cons
It’s not a dry bag.

What does that set up weigh? I got rid of my Just One pack cuz it was close to 9 pounds empty. That’s a deal breaker for me. Fit me perfect though.

The spike duffel is well built and will last a long time but it is heavy and not waterproof.  You could always go with that and drybags inside or put it in a larger drybag.

Not sure yet
It’s heavier then I’d want, that’s why I said it won’t be my main pack someday. But it’s what I have to work with right now
