Cerakote - Transfers - FFL Services in Tacoma
« on: January 20, 2020, 08:43:31 PM »
Now that hunting seasons are well behind me I thought it would be appropriate to let you all know about myself.  I work part time as an FFL and provide Cerakote refinishing, parkerizing, firearm transfers, and other FFL services.  I can also work on your 1911 style pistols having learned from Bob Rodgers.

Other service I provide:
AR assembly
Optic mounting
Transfers
Special Orders
Mailing pistols - It will cost you a lot less for me to mail a pistol for you instead of you shipping it overnight.

Transfer fee:
$20 any firearm that is not a semi-auto rifle.
$30 semi-auto rifle + state fees.

I accept cash. I do not accept any form of electronic payments.

If I can be of service to you, please drop me a line.

Dana

Could you explain a little more as to what Cerakote is? I’ve read a little about it, but not sure still exactly what it is and it’s application. Is it like a coating/waterproofing?
   Thanks!

Cerakote is a baked on finish that provides rust protection and can cover defects.  I believe it's a mashup of the words ceramic & coating.

Dreadi- what are you charging for cerakote?  Say an 870 or other shotgun.

I would also like to know your typical turn around time for coatings.   I am thinking of having a Rem 700 done. Its just blued right now.

Cerakote offers a variety of products that are aimed at refinishing items while also providing protection from the elements.

Not quite.

Some Cerakote is baked on. Some Cerakote is air cured.  It does not cover defects.  Whatever the surface texture is of the item being coated after prep, expect it to still have a representation of that surface after coating.  Example, if your barrel is pitted and that pitting is not removed during prep, Cerakote is not going to hide the pitting.

I would also like to know your typical turn around time for coatings.   I am thinking of having a Rem 700 done. Its just blued right now.

Usually within two weeks.

So what you are really saying is your ffl transfers are free and you sell quality homemade cookies for $20. That is a deal I can sink my teeth into.

There’s been a number of people needing transfers popping up this week and bit of refinishing going on.

Our spring seasons are closed but, the fall will be here soon. In the meantime, consider getting your gear in order including refinishing your favorite firearms.

To show how Cerakote helps to protect steel from the elements, I set up a demo using C clamps. One bare, one parkerized, and another with Cerakote. I sat them outside and left them unattended for a few days. Overnight we got some rain on day 8 that carried over into day 9. You can see the results for self.

Day 16

As you would expect, it only gets worse for unprotected metal.

Even your pee shooter can use a new protective finish, just like this Winchester 90 in Cerakote Midnight with stocks refinished by the customer.

Recently I was asked how well Cerakote holds up to muzzle blast, so I made a video and took before and after shots of how a Cerakote finish holds up to muzzle blast. This is on my personal 458 SOCOM that I built last year with over 100rds of use after refinishing. I had not cleaned the muzzle device until now.

Also, I offer cleaning services as well. Recently a customer brought five inherited rifles in for cleaning and inspection. Unfortunately for some of the rifles, some of them had been neglected for far too long.

Do you want to put a optic or red dot on your shotgun but don’t have tapped receiver? I can fix that up for you too.

I’ve received extremely good recommendations on your work Dana.  What does it run to Ceracoat a 22” bolt rifle ?

Thank you, Beau

It depends on what parts you want refinished.

If you’re asking about just a stripped barreled action with one color that I have in stock, $200 plus tax. When other parts are added such as bottom metal, bolt, stock, screws, etc etc, or additional colors or patterns, the price of course goes up.

The world is your oyster.  You can go from this:

To this

That’s a Savage 10 Scout I transformed with thee colors of Cerakote and the bolt is coated with Microslick which is another Cerakote product that I like for traditional bolts and semi auto bolt carriers.

Little know fact: Cerakote makes your scope grow.

That 870 turned out nicely.

Also, Winchester lever actions are hot now.

This post 64 received a new finish in Magpul Stealth Grey

The 94 AE needed a new extractor. Always ton of fun taking down a lever gun.

The other post 64 is awaiting glamour shots after. It was worse looking than the other one.

This older Wingmaster had seen better days.

Until now. Combat Grey

This CZ had a little rust at the muzzle and the owner wanted keep that from happening anywhere else. Everything except for the trigger assembly and bolt shaft were refinished in Midnight.

More 870 action.

This one also needed to be drilled and tapped for the rail.

And don’t forget to refinish the shell latch plates and re-stake them.

One of my customers had a vision for his P320-ish project. A little mixing, a little spraying, and here it is. The grip frame module is a customer color mix and he supplied some images post assembly.
