New build
« on: January 28, 2020, 10:24:07 AM »
Well I decided that I wanted to build an AR10 in .308.  I have an AR15 in .223/5.56, one in 300 Black out and a .223/5.56 pistol.  So far I have a Aero Precision complete lower for the AR10.  What would you all suggest for an upper?

An Aero M5 should fit your lower well and you can usually find blems for about $100.  Just built a .243 on one with a $90 Bear Creek barrel and am happy with performance so far.

What barrel length will you be wanting to go with?  I ask because I have a brand new unfired 308 take off barrel from my Seekins SP10 308 that I rebarreled with a Proof 6.5CM a few months ago.  Seekins uses Rock Creek barrels and it would come with gas block and gas tube all brand new.

Here's an Aero M5 with 18" Faxon pencil profile and slim handguard.

I have a couple of basic .308 handguards.  Will send to you for cost of shipping.

You don't have to ship.  I work in North Bend.  We can meet up somewhere.  I will buy you your favorite beer if you would like.

Cool build.
I have wanted to build either a 6.5CM or .243 AR10, just have not get around to pulling the trigger.
I got to shoot a couple boxes out of a new Springfield Saint Victor .308 on Saturday. I had heard (from various reviews) they can hit pretty hard. I had a blast shooting it and did not think it was hard on the shoulder at all.

You can totally suck out with a .308. The .308 is the queen of suck, you have to neck the suck out of it. You could just pick up a barrel in 6.5 CM and rock on and stomp on the Anemic 30 cal. Forgive me for shooting the CM a boat load.
