Heading out tomorrow to help my cousin with his Observatory any Bull tag until Sunday, then headed straight over to the Chiwawa were he's got the late tag.  Two tags in one year!  Lucky prick.  ;)  Keep an eye out for a black Dodge P/U and/or a Navy Blue Avalanche.  We'll be camped around Pine Flats....come in and pull up a chair.

Good luck fellas..... :hunter:

.....no higher. ;)

Our tag is full, so if you see a Blue Dodge in the Methow, say Hi,  I'll be the guy with a couple cameras around his neck.  I may just know where your buck is hiding.

I hunted with my son in the Chiwawa from Friday Nov 2 through Sunday Nov 4. We saw over 30 doe but more importantly, six bucks (a spike, a big forky., a three pt., a 3x4, and two 4x4's. (Had a great shot on a 18 inch 4x4 @ 112 yds which I passed on) He might have been a 120 class buck. Three of the bigger bucks were with doe but I think they were still the local deer herd. Anyway, I plan to go back again thursday night, and hunt Friday through the weekend.

The weather was sunny and in the 20's on Friday Nov 2. It warmed to the 40's & 50's Sat & Sun. Had a huge windstorm Sat night. Felt like gale force winds. Good deer movement on Sunday.

Now for my tale of woe....On the way over the pass Thursday night I had a flat tire. While changing the tire I stepped off the back of my truck wrong and did something to my foot. Consequently, I had a hell of a time getting around all weekend. Luckily, My hunting boots are almost like a cast. Anyway, I was gimping all weekend. Came home last night and went to the emergency room....Big mistake! Five hours later, I'm in a splint and crutches for 7 -10 days. Either ruptured a tendon, ligiment, or I have a fractured bone in my foot.

I will be removing the spilnt on Thursday night and will be back hunting next weekend although I'm not sure how. I have to schedule an MRI for a week from Tuesday or Wednesday and am suppose to remain in the spint until then. I am SOOOOO pissed!

So now I'm thinking I should have just taken that smaller 120's buck. Next weekend I may have to rethink my goal of a 150 -160 class deer. Whatever the case I'm not planning on wasting my 7 points because of sore foot!

Anxious to hear how the rest are doing! Until my next update.....

Mike, I feel terrible for you.  sh!t ass luck, hopefully throughout the week it will start feeling better, maybe you will have to amp up on some IBprofeun for the weekend.  Keep your mind strong, and Im sure you will find that 160 + buck, when does you season end?  Hang in there it will work out.  James

Sorry to here about your bad luck Mike, lets hope its a fracture. I'm not real familiar with that area, is it at all possible for you to road hunt? I know that's not the preferred method but it beats 7 point tag soup, if you know what I mean. What about having someone help you up to a point of sitting and waiting for an ambush? Keep us posted..................rf

Are you kidding....that is the road hunting unit capitol right there.  When I had the tag 3yrs ago, was unbelievable how many guys just drove around.  Almost as crazy is how many of em' shot deer doing it.  Tons of places to just drive around and glass.

All is not lost yet Cowboy....just make sure you got a full tank when you head up there.  I still think you did the right thing passin' the smaller buck up.  Good luck the rest of the way.

I would say the Entiat side is more easily road hunted then the Chiwawa side, although I've really only spent time up Mills Canyon and a lot of time up Tyee...

Thanks James! The season is from Nov 1 to the 18th. That means at least two more weekends. We're hoping for snow! I appreciate the encouragement. We'll try to get er' done one way or the other!

I appreciate all of the comments and replys! One way or another I will be there looking for a good buck this upcoming weekend. I agree that driving around is an option that I am going to have to consider, at least part of the time. We'll see how I'm feeling after some rest this week and if the splint and large doses of Ibuprofin have any effect.

Jae (I sent you a PM!)

Muleyslyr, Slider, huntnphool, Bearhunter.....appreciate the replies. It's been a bummer but my confidence has been restored!

MichaelJ, good luck in the Entiat!
