Guess we are losing part of the ebey island unit

Long ago their was a wdfw study into turning ebey island intertidal. This angered ( understatement) the primary land owning family .. the study in no way was based on sound science..

Yeah, more of the same from WDFW, destroy waterfowl habitat and make zero effort to replace it.  Thousands of hunter days every year are lost when they destroy state hunting lands for salmon habitat.  Further, we don't even know if the salmon will use the properties, WDFW simply wants to state in a PowerPoint how many acres they destroyed and then move on to the next property.

If we had any coordination at all, we could at least put up a fight.  Unfortunately, some groups within the hunting community are actually helping with this destruction of hunting ground.  Be careful which organization you join, I suggest WWA as they are doing what they can.  Other national waterfowl organizations have actually given support to the destruction of hunting property.

looking at the maps in the link. it appears they are looking to flood lands to the South of Hwy 2.  It doesn't clearly state which lands they are flooding, but it appears it may ber part of the pheasant release sight. yes they allow waterfowl hunting, but i believe you can't access land before 8am.

I know the larger tract to the East is where they release pheasants and farm crops, so maybe its the Western tract thats not really accesible anyway

People hunt both tracts, it's amazing where some of the smaller boats can go sometimes.

From the map it appears to be the section of land that requires boat access. the middle section just south of the main parking lot by HWY 2.

Sad part is the State is scrambling for acreage to satisfy  legal settlements with the tribes for salmon habitat restoration. It is going to take place on public land FIRST and the state doesnt own enough intertidal land to complete the agreement. So this small chunk will be expanded to fufill this requirement. It Blows, and Its even worse because the department isnt honest about what is going on.
