Where to find powders
« on: February 03, 2020, 09:14:45 PM »
New to enumclaw and looking for a place to find rifle powders. I’m okay with traveling 45 min or so no problem. I was going to sportsman’s in federal way but last time I was there they didn’t have a single powder on the shelves? Anyone know up with that also?

How long has it been since you were there? Last few times I went to the federal way store, they were pretty well stocked. The Puyallup store on the other hand looks like they’re trying to get away from reloading gear, shelves are bare for just about everything.

There aren’t a whole lot of good other options in the south sound, big j’s in Orting carries some limited supplies, welchers’s in Lakewood has a good stock of powders and bullets.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

I was there just a few days ago. Literally not a single bottle of powder.. seemed kinda weird. All the other reloading stuff was out, but not a single powder.

Have you tried Sportco in Fife?
Give them a call before driving there

I have been buying powder at the Sportsmans Warehouse in Everett.

I was there the other day ( saturday morning ) and a guy asked a gal at the gun counter where all the powder was. She said all of their powders are locked up in back. She gave him a card with the list of what they had.

Interesting, I wonder why they would do that? I guess I’ll go back and get the list! Also thought about sportco but wasn’t sure if they carried powders

Starting the end of last month they can request powder from other stores if they have it in stock. I just got a shipment of powder from Midway

I was told by an employee at the Federal Way Sportsmans, that the fire department came in, and told them they were only allowed 20 pounds of powder, on the shelf at a time.

I wonder if this is something new, or something that's just started to be enforced.
Ranch and home in Kennewick has pulled all their backstock powder from the shelves, and only has single pounds out. there was a note hung up saying due to regulations, they could only display single items or something along those lines.

Our local sportsmans is a joke for powders. they have lots of other reloading equipment and bullets, but seems they almost never have powder I'm after, and its a real crap shoot on if they have primers.

If you are ever going through Wenatchee, Hooked on Sports has the best selection I have seen in the state.

Most of my suppliers have been told by fire Marshal that they can only have so much on display the remainder has to be in a fire proof vault. If you notice those that do have a large display of powder containers those containers are empty and you have to ask for the powder they go and get it from the vault "Ammo locker" as was the case at Hooked on Toys, Sportsman Warehouse in Wenatchee and the Big R/ North40 store in Omak
