I agree with the comments to always apply because you always have a chance in this state. I would add to that, especially on these spring bear tags, to apply if you really are going to dedicate the time it takes to hunt these tags because not only are their plenty of us that would love to get a tag and go hunt but these hunts are also needful predator control management tools. Bears in the spring especially reek havoc on the fawns and calf elk numbers and we need these tags used. Many of these spring hunts are tough hunts that have to be treated just like a fall hunt that need a week of time and maybe a few trips over to be successful and a lot of guys I think put in just because its winter time and we are all itching to get out and back in the mountains.. Don't get me wrong these are fun hunts and anyone who loves to hunt should get to do a spring bear hunt just know going in we need these tags hunted seriously..

I only drew once, drew huckleberry in 2016.  First bear i saw that season was in mid april.  Almost shot him but decided to wait.  In early may i killed this old sow.  5th bear i saw that day.  Was trying to call in another bear i spotted and moved on, this one snuck up behind me, hsd no idea it was there.  10 yards with winchester model 88.

I’ve drawn about 6 times killed 4 bears, first year I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, couple draws ago I passed up bears that I didn’t want to shoot.  Looking back, I should not have passed up one of the bears to help the deer/elk out.  Great bears above guys!

I'm 3 for 3.  I drew with 3 points, 1 point, and 5 points.

Wow. Well done fellas! Nice critters. I have not been selected to hunt spring bear. If I do I’ll be looking for advice.
It’s one thing to draw. To harvest is a whole different game. I have been bear hunting quite a few times with no luck. I live and work in the San Juan islands. So it’s difficult to get out and pattern animals. Throw me a bone someone!

Harvest reports for 2017 & 2018 show zero harvest success from completed reports.
