6.5 Ruger Creed
« on: February 11, 2020, 09:32:34 AM »
Nephew just bought one for predators and maybe deer. Told him we'll reload for it and get it dialed. Took it out yesterday, about froze :yike:. Not bad for a first round, like to see 1/2-3/4 moa. 100yards 1" circles 95 Vmax. It's a start anyways. Btw rugers accu trigger is pretty smooth 3-5 lb I believe.
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

Middle load looks solid. Much less vertical

With the two (.243 and 6mm CM) that I've shot and worked on, it seems the grouping is almost all horizontal just like that and I think @Karl Blanchard has said the same with his.

The trigger gets even better with the upgraded spring

I would run the Hornady 143 eld through it.

It will like them.

I wanted to like the eld just won't fly good for me...

Got better performance from Barnes Vor tx 127 and Federal accubond 140s...

Guess every rifle is different.

Ruger American specific.

About a 6 rifle sample size.

Best factory 6.5 cm groups I've ever seen are 143eld.

Very comparable to hand loads.

The middle target was 2/10 of a grain above book max Hornady 9. No signs of pressure. Next time I go out there I’ll take my Magneto speed and see what we can do. Bump it up a little bit see what happens. Tighter I hope. I did try the 129 SST’s they were not showing good results, but it’s still early.

I've messed with quite a few RA's now and haven't had one not shoot very well. I'll second Jon and say replace that trigger spring asap. I buy the 1.5lb spring off Amazon for like $11. Action screw torque is a big issue with those stocks. Keep it even between the two as best you can and crank em down. 55in-lb.

I shoot the 140 hunting vld and also load the same powder charge under a 123 eldm in my nephew's rifle.  I'm a eldx hater but they do shoot well.

It'll do this with 5 shots till the cows come home with the vld's

All hat, no cows, and killer groups.

Me?
I prefer getting excited and jerking the trigger.
Comes from years of shotgunning.

I admire your ability to poke it in the same hole but it seems like you waste a lot of paper that way.

Mr Karl recommended that trigger spring and it turned an already solid trigger into a much better one  particularly for those who are against file work and screw turning.
