Impulse buy!
« on: February 16, 2020, 07:49:15 PM »
I found an Encore Prohunter with a 270 win barrel for $350; at Cabela's of all places!

I'll probably dump the 270 barrel in favor of something more interesting, or possibly muzzle loader barrel. I've been waiting for a deal on one of these for almost 2 years now so Jay_sharkbait and I can get to work on the 300 McFiddlesticks Flanged project. The goal is to hit a 1 MOA target at 1 mile using a rimmed case out of a break action single shot. Let the next failed project begin!!!!!! :chuckle:

A worthy task
https://www.howlforwildlife.org/take_action  It takes 10 seconds and it’s free. To easy to make an excuse not to make your voice heard!!!!!!

Damn...that's a smoking deal.

I would have donated a frame to the cause had you mentioned it sooner...the only charge would be passing on the knowledge so I can have one too when yours is done.

The price caught me off guard; $350 would have been a fair price for just the used action and stocks. It's definitely been hunted with and shows some wear, but it's really in very good condition. The bore looks good on the barrel and everything else looks good to go. It's probably been 10 years since I sold my Encore frame and the last of my barrels but I don't remember mine opening and locking up quite this smooth.

I may still need another volunteer to test it out as the project moves forward, so I might still find a way to drag you down with us!  :chuckle:

Well no one can accuse you guys of setting simplistic goals,  :chuckle:

Jackelope beat you to it! I shouldn't have said how much I paid for the whole gun, I probably could have sold the barrel for almost what I had into the whole package. :chuckle:

There I was, just minding my own business...

Lurking in the shadows and waiting for an opportunity to attack doesn't count as minding your own business. :sry: Now if only Biggerhammer were here too, it'd be just like old times. Sorry, we'd all have to wait for BH to refer to somebody as a clown and for you to make some weird and obscure reference that nobody gets (but we're all pretty sure it's offensive) and then you both get put on time out. Again. For the 4th or 10th time, I can't keep track any more.  :chuckle:

Don't worry, the original McFiddlesticks concept has already been "boondoogled" and I have a new idea! :chuckle:
