Cell phone service in NE WA
« on: February 17, 2020, 10:03:14 PM »
Last spring turkey hunting in Stevens County, I had horrible cell phone service on my T-Mobile android phone. It worked perfectly on the tops of ridges but it was intermittent on the valley floors. What cell phone service do you have that gets good reception everywhere in NE WA? Tx, 253shotgunner

I've also found if you're to close to Canada your phone grabs a cell tower on the other side of the border and you get charged international charges.  Don't ask me how I know, still a sore subject with the wife. :dunno:

AT&T has been best for me covering the whole ferry county where Verizon loses it north of curlew lake. I’ve had it everywhere I’ve gone in Stevens county too. There’s a few areas though that just don’t have service nor will they get it anytime soon.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Do it a lot when I'm in NE corner.  Sometimes sitting on a ridge looking into Canada.  First time they billed me I contacted them and told them it would be an ongoing occurrence.  Haven't had a problem since.  I do get a lot of text asking if I want to upgrade.  Nope  :chuckle:  I have AT&T

At&t is much better than verizon.  Hell, i couldnt even make a phone call at my house with verizon, have great at&t signal though.  There are a few spots in the hills where verizon works better, but overall att works more places in the northeast.

Verizon. been using them for over 20 years there now and haven't had much of a problem. My family always seems to switch for a better deal but always end up back with Verizon. I'm sure your aware but if your using OnX just download some map to work with out cell coverage. Your GPS will work even if your cell coverage doesn't.

ATT is better than Verizon in ferry county hands down.

In the for what's it worth department, I have had horrible "remote" service with AT&T (remote areas in Idaho, Montana, and Washington).  When I couldn't get service, it seems my buddies could with Verizon.  I switched our service to Verizon several years ago and have much better luck with connecting when off the grid, so to speak.

I had better coverage with AT&T except at home where I get better coverage with Verizon. Would of stuck with AT&T but their customer service was horrible and after a few arguments with them I ended up switching to Verizon. Lately though, I noticed area's where Verizon didn't get any service, I am getting service now.

It's very localized which is better.   I use ATT and am very happy with them on their unlimited premium US,Canada,Mexico plan.
This is 101 and 105.  In all of Stevens CO. I recommend ATT hands down.

My bro uses Verizon and up in the Selkirks he's able to make calls and I have no coverage.

Since I usually hunt with him in remote areas I like the ATT/Verizon combo we got going on.   Its not often, but there's also times when I have coverage and he doesn't.

Typically he has more total coverage on verizon, and I have higher quality coverage when I have service.

So if you live on the wet side and only come to the NE corner to hunt, I might suggest verizon for more total (but poorer quality) coverage.
If you want to live here and your home, commute and work is covered by ATT coverage I would go that route, no brainer.

I've had both AT&T and Verizon in the past. I primarily hunt 108 and 111. I've found that AT&T has better coverage than Verizon in those areas. Service is spotty up there between South Fork Mill Creek and the border if you're lower in elevation. I can get full service on most ridge tops along the highway though.

I have had AT&T, Verizon both.  I now have U.S. Cellular and they have been the best BY FAR for remote locations.  From the beach to the Idaho wilderness, it has been great.  The reason we made the switch was because neither AT&T or Verizon worked at our house.

Service should get better this spring/summer along Lake Roosevelt. I just sold a house near Inchelium and the adjoining lot is being developed for a cell tower by Weiss Co. a cell tower co. from the coast. They had the building pad done and the timber cut from the guy wire lanes in Jan. Looking forward to better service along the lake.
