Most people don't want to pay more taxes, I hate all the different little taxes, but quite honestly it's easier to just pay the fee than get heartburn worrying about it, none of us can change the law, either pay or don't ride. I have to buy tabs on about 10 atv/utv's and on about 10 snowmobiles, still it's easier to just pay than get an ulser getting worked up over it. When I'm in Idaho I've usually got a big smile and enjoying it just knowing I'm in a much better managed state for wildlife and where I can ride any roads I want to ride. I don't mind paying to support something good!
Well now you have to buy tabs in 2 states instead of one.

As an Idaho business owner I've been buying tabs in Idaho for many years, I also buy tabs in Utah. I don't buy tabs in WA because there aren't many places to ride, I'm not going to buy tabs when I can't ride more than 5 or 10 mile sections of road. In Idaho, Utah, and Montana I can ride right into towns or on forest service roads.

In many Idaho areas half or more of the recreational traffic is non-residents who go there to ride because you can't ride most places in WA. Residents are buying tabs, I don't blame them for expecting non-residents to buy tabs too. Sometimes states have reciprocal agreements, but why would anyone from Idaho want to come to WA to ride a 5 mile section of road? Essentially WA has nothing to offer for a reciprocal agreement.

I understand that and it is very true in many ways.  Id business owner you are required to buy those tabs!  If you were registered in Wa you would likely have to do it in both states now ?  But you would be accepted by Wa with Id tags un-like Id. is now?  Now Wa will start requiring Id to buy tags, And so on for each state.  Then when that $ is spent they will apply it to boats and anything else thought of.  This issue will likely become a federal matter at some point and be overturned imop.  Or be forced to remove "street legal" application?   I will not buy tags for my street legal vehicles and will challenge any fine in court.   I wonder if Id will lose more $ in tourism $ then they gain from $12 tabs?  I can say YUP!  Already have.  $ for tourism/hunt trips and tags is already down by 3, trust me on that one.   Id residents are going to love their new Discover pass that's coming!  :dunno:

If you buy WA ATV tabs that money goes to WA trails not Idaho. If you want to use the Idaho trails, buy Idaho ATV tabs.

If you buy a deer tag in Washington, do you think that is valid to use on a deer in Idaho? You already paid for a deer tag...

Sorry man but those nonsense rationalizations hold no water, try again.   They are called vehicle tabs, right, so is your car a vehicle?   Do ya want buy tabs for that in every state?   States in a federal system have always honored the other states regulations.  That is changing it seems in many ways.   NOT GOOD for us.  Can you imagine this applied to other applications?  Precedant is being set and if ya support it ya are part of the socialist problem imop.   Does ID honor Wa hunter safety certifications?  Yes.  That may change, will ya support that or scream?  This is not about hunting it is about $.  In a sense it is double taxed, again.   Ya see Id allows street use of utv so if said utv is equipped to Id standards and registered in other state for street use (TITLED) and insured ID cannot legally enforce this and courts will overturn this Soviet thinking. imop.

I would certainly welcome nationwide reciprocity, it seems that would save money. If you and others can influence that I fully support it.  :dunno:

It started with Washington and Idaho squabbling over groomer sno-park licenses for snowmobiling.   If I recall,  Washington started it by forcing Idahoan's to buy Washington sno park licenses first, then Idaho did it to Washingtonians.

Now the gloves are off, and we the taxpayer are the suckers in the middle getting punched from all sides.

Don't think of it as car tabs, think of it as an invasive species permit aimed and stemming the tide of Lazy Out of State Hunters. That way you can consider it donating to conservation instead of it being just another tax.

I noticed that Montana is now requiring hunters to buy the invasive aquatic species endorsement  or whatever they call it.

Pretty obvious this is a county by county way of them monitoring and studying the atv use while making a buck.
I'm all in.
I hope they outlaw them things in my sector.
If they do I'll have one for sale. :0

I don't have an atv, so I'm not up on the rules of where riding is allowed. Are those rules set by the state, or the forest service district?

You will get your way asp when Id timber lands charge like Weyco across the state.  Then ya can buy a foot travel permit tab!   :chuckle:   I see Id has not learned from Wa mistakes.   Makes sense as people only worry about what benefits themselves not learning from history lessons.   Always happens.   Sorry Idaho.  I mean Idahoewashingtonions.

Not to be overly negative, Im sorry, I just hate to see this stuff in any place for any reason.  We all know we can never give up enough in taxes to Gov. and they never spend it correctly and they always just grow the Gov to regulate and tax us more and we always lose some more in the end.  All of us, as they pit each other against each other, divide n well ya get my point.  It will all be gone someday regardless of how much I scream "NO!".
