Which AR lower parts kit to buy?
« on: March 13, 2020, 12:36:55 PM »
As the title says, what parts kit should I buy?  I have a lower already.  Probably going to use a few uppers on it, including a normal 556 plinking type upper and also maybe a 450 Bushmaster.  Maybe a 300 blackout?

I don't know a ton about ARs.  What should I buy?

I use Aero Precision and BCM LPKs  with Larue or Geissele triggers .

I don't think it matters, as the parts are probably all sourced from the same one or two places.

Short of the trigger and hammer, it's just pins, springs, and screws.

Buy two for the *sproing* oh crap moments and to have spares on hand.  They are cheap.

I can relate.  I put one together before and definitely had some time searching the ground with a flashlight.

Check out the larue trigger.

IMHO, a great $80 trigger.    I think they compete with triggers twice the cost.  Some may argue that.

I have them in all the ARs I got for me/wife/kids.

I don't think the rest matters as much.

 :yeah:

I have a couple geissele SSAs, they are fantastic triggers. I have shot a couple LaRue triggers that were great for 1/2 the price.

I would get the Aero parts kit minus the FCG.

Then add a single stage trigger like hiperfire or larue.

I wouldn't spend more than $100 on the trigger.

People shoot sub MOA all the time with cheap mil spec triggers but they can feel rough.

Don't know if it's been said already but I wouldn't buy anything but the Biden AR14 lowers... Best on the market!  :chuckle:

I just built one with the Midway lower parts kit. The trigger is horrid in that kit. It will get replaced very soon. I was thinking of going with the Rock River Varmint 2-stage. I haven't felt one yet but their products seem very good so far.

For a hunting AR the rr 2 stage is great. I have built many guns with them.
If you are wanting a fast plinking semi auto and like to rattle off rounds it is not a good choice.

Andersen for the money. Pretty much mil spec. Triggers are good for being standard. Price is fair.
Hey! I'm not a complete idiot I have parts missing. Though sometimes I wonder.

I've already got a longer range 556 that I bought from Carp on here.   I don't really want another one.  I'm thinking of a 556 plinker and then something else cool like a 450 BM.

I've heard good reviews, and read bad reviews, about Bear Creek.  Seems like a good buy for the money and for what I'm looking for.  Am I wrong?
