I would love some advice on wether to purchase either of the timber company permits or if there is other areas that are open to the public. I used to deer hunt the area 10-15 years ago but I am sure a lot of access has changed.

What species.

A lot of the Rayonier land is lease hunting and spendy. The general Rayonier permit Is fairly spotty and doesn't have many clearcuts. Mostly older regrowth. Green Diamond has some open to entry land if you can access it. Some of it is mixed in with Rayonier land. A couple other outfits have small pieces of open to entry land too. You just have to locate them. And there is a little bit of State land. Haven't been to any of it in a number of years so don't know how huntable it is.

The Rayonier Spring Bear Promised Land permit, it's on their website, would be your best bet for getting access to a good amount of ground. The area is flat and thick but holds a lot of bears.  Weyco permits are sold out for motorized access as they go on sale the year prior in May.  The walk in permit for Weyco is pointless in my opinion.  There is some green diamond land that is closed gate but open to walk in or bike in.   Good luck!
