My rifle when modern hunting.   Why pack another firearm?  When archery hunting,  I'll pack an LCP to keep the meth heads civil.

Kimber Ultra carry .45 with buffalo bore hard cast lead, and spray.
Where did you find the .45 Buffalo bore?  In a store or special order?

Had a 629 4" for a few years.  Packed it as a side for blacktail hunting around the grizzly island here in SEAK,  but felt it was just not any better than the weapon I had at the ready in my hands at the time.  Couldn't justify the weight and hassle of putting down a rifle at the ready to unholster a sidearm. So for deer hunting now, I don't pack a sidearm, just my rifle.

For spring hiking on to the brown bear islands, I sling my Winchester 12 ga. Marine Defender over the shoulder.

I never feel undergunned.   :dunno:

Depends how big I think the bears are where I’m going. Usually I’ll take a Glock 19, because I’m not really worried about bears. If I am, I take Glock 21 in either .45 or I swap the barrel and mags and take 10mm. Might be swapping the G19 out for the M&P 45C soon.

If I dont care about concealing, my glock 20 is with me. I feel it has the capacity and power to deal with anything I need to deal with in the lower 48, and I can shoot it extremely accurately and fast.

Ruger Alaskan revolver in 454 casull on a chest holster for my dream hunting trip to Alaska.
S&W M66 revolver is my usual woods gun. It is my most accurate sidearm. -253shotgunner

G20 & chest holster

For something that won't break the bank and has a good amount of firepower the G20 or maybe even it's longer brother the G40 would be as good a choice as any and that's coming from someone that really isn't even a Glock guy.

Something in 460 Rowland would be nice too.

During archery season I carry either a XDM 10mm or S&W 340 357 airlite.

One thing to think about with the bear spray is, one normally hunts into the wind. So when you spook that resting bear.  That spray will becoming right back at you! We do hand it out to those that hunt our land but I personally would not want to depend on it without proper back up. When you do buy Bear spray always buy a extra can to practice with so you know how to use it and how it sprays out.
For those hunting up in N.C. Montana if you stop in at the Blackfoot Fish and Wildlife Office in Browning they sell it there for $5.00 a can.
