Seasoning Pit Boss smoker

Chips or no chips? It literally says don’t use them in #1, and then says to use them in #3. I’m leaning towards no, but I’m paranoid about any break-in process.

Use wood chips during curing, oak, hickory, the one you think you will use the most.  Doing this will coat the inside of your smoker with a rust preventive and protect it.  Also it will help keep your flavors clean and true.  Also you will have redo this every so often, you will know as you use it.  Cook and smoke any and all things, use your imagination never know what will turn fancy, or what your will create.
