WA elk hunt
« on: March 26, 2020, 11:10:44 AM »
17points. Getting old. Looking for a unit to put in for that holds some big bulls. I know it’s all going down hill but I need to do it soon before I can’t. Someone said the Skouk.

I would say pick one of the several known units, but also keep your expectations realistic.  With 17 points, the premium units are going to be under 5% chance that you draw.

17 or 7 points . Odds dont really matter it's a random draw with bonus points. With number of tags so low in most upper tier draws, points dont help much.  Dont plan on winning it will just make the disappointment worse.

:yeah: lots of 17 point holders out there, you are better off just finding a place to hunt over the counter, and put in for a special permit that matches your tag.  So when you don’t draw, you still have a good plan.

I’m 22. With 12 quality points. Like said above, figure out your general OTC hunt and use the draw as a backup. Now that it’s getting harder and harder to draw, and in the coming years will only get more difficult.

Everyone saying I won’t get drawn ! I have hope. I won’t give up. They said that to me last year on my deer tag and I got drawn. Expect the worst , hope for the best and you will never be disappointed in life. Just looking for a unit that has some big bulls. I don’t want a average bull. I already have many of those. I always have next year and after. When it gets to the point where I can’t get out and hike then I will lower my standards to a meat hunt. For those of you who say they will never get drawn , don’t give up or don’t put in. If you put in every year then that tells me you haven’t given up

Jeeze, at first glance I thought that elk was pretty short.

Members on this site said I wouldn’t get drawn. I didn’t give up. When I got drawn members said I would only get a 160-170 buck. I didn’t give up. Took six days after seeing lots of 160-170’s. Persistence and patience !!!!

I like the way you think!
And what an incredible buck you harvested on a tag that you will never draw! Congrats!
