If youve got the mag length, a 243 ai would outrun most anything else in a short action standard bolt.

Have a custom reamer made that puts a neck length and shoulder of a dasher on a 243 length case.

Not bad just not great.   I’ll admit I’m a speed freak when I comes to rifles.   Looking up the gt I’m thinking......meh.   To put things in perspective I was contemplating a 6mmsaum
Or 6mm/6.5 prc

I drew up a reamer for a 6mm/6.5 PRC and made a couple dummy rounds for a guy. He ended up scrapping the idea because the OAL with most 115gr bullets was going too long to feed through an AICS mag. The 6mm SST might be an interesting option for a fast 6mm that will work as a repeater.

Fair enough. The 26 nosler build of mine is my first real speed bill. The SAUM looks alright, the WSSM always interested me more thou

That 6sst sounds pretty good.  Adg brass, whinden dies.  Mag fed even with 115’s meaning no 2 loads for playing and hunting.  Would need to open my bolt face.

Wait...... looked at 30BR?   120 gr at 3000 fps.  Easiest to tune. 6000+ rounds barrel life.  Arguably most accurate at 300 yds.    Deer or target.

Was the .243 barrel from Northland?
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.
Once I thought I was wrong but I was mistaken.

yes it was.
One of the barrels I ordered is the exact same barrel which I may rechamber myself to 243ai.

the 30br is cool. But not really my style.  I’ve thought about replacing my 300wm barrel but I just really like the 338 cartridges so much more.   I may do a hunting weight barrel 338/375 ruger and shoot the 250gr or go with edge.  For deer I really like how the 243 has preformed for me.   The 338’s also give me that warm fuzzy feeling
