I've been clucking away on my calls and walking around the house in my turkey vest for the last two weeks. I've taken the time to heavily modify my Long Spur vest I got for my birthday last year. I bought some materials to fabricate a stabilizer for my bow and plan to run a backbar setup at some point. I made a turkey wing for flydown using feathers from a young turkey I shot in the fall and I'm halfway done with a fan mount I'm making. Last on my list is a rail mounted shell holder I'm acquiring materials for. So hold on to your butts, because if the season stays on I'm gonna kill me some turkey.
I thought it would be fun for everyone to post up what they are using to dispense death to the unsuspecting. I'll start.
My shotgun of choice is a Thompson/Center Encore Pro Hunter, 12 guage 3" chamber with a 24" barrel. TruGlo Strut Stopper Xtreme turkey choke. SightMark Sure Shot reflex red dot with a custom comb riser on the stock. I shoot 3" Winchester XR Longbeards in #5 shot.
My bow is a PSE Surge currently set at 50lbs, with a TruGlo Fuse sight and Downdraft drop away rest. I use a G5 Meta peep and a Jim Fletcher Swift thumb release. I'll be shooting a 29" Beman ICS Hunter carbon arrow at 8.4 gpi with a Rage X-treme Turkey mechanical broadhead. This will be my first archery hunt.
