cool bot - a quick question
« on: April 14, 2020, 11:18:03 AM »
Can I run multiple units off a single cool bot?   I was thinking three larger size window AC units.

Is there another product I should look at?

I don't see how its possible with only 1 sensor.

Why do you want to run 3 units?  Instead of just one larger one?

My shop is very well insulated, but it's a big area and I butcher beef in it.

Instead of building an addon just for cold storage and hanging meat,  I thought might as well just cool the whole shop.

It's hard to get my helpers lined up and have the right weather for hanging beef for 14 days,  too many factors could go wrong during that time.

I been lucky so far since the shop holds temps so well,  but a 4 day warm snap while my beef is hanging would get me nervous.

one AC unit would most likely be enough with a fall butchering,  but if I got a cow messed up in August and wanted to salvage her....

Can I use one °CoolBot for two A/Cs?
No. You do need a separate °CoolBot for each air conditioner, as each A/C will cycle and freeze up at different rates.

I see they have a wifi thing now, looks like it'll be $399 x3   + 3 AC units

What if you use some of the Styrofoam insulation sheeting to wall off part of the shop? The R rating on some of those is super high and I think you could just box in the corner of the shop with the one AC unit and not have to actually cool the entire shop. Then when you’re not hanging meat pull the sheeting down and stack it back up in the rafters somewhere until you need it again

ya

except I don't have any rafters,  the bottoms of the rafters are sheated and insulated above, like a house attic.

May not be the right spot but I have to know. I see 1 to 2 year old frozen meat getting dumped. If you google frozen meat it will tell you that if done properly it will last indefinitly.I have been eating 4 to 5 year old meat for a very long time. No different from the new stuff ?

yup, I've ate some pretty old stuff too.

seal a meal bags and gentle handling can really add storage life.   If you have kids banging around meat getting holes in the bags, not so long  :chuckle:
