I like the Primos sonic dome, white diaphram, orange dome. Its by far the best fit for my mouth. Just got a pack from Elknut and his CD. Havent tried the 2 new ones but did watch his cd. Great stuff. Trying to decide which bugle to use now. But it will definately be one that Paul makes.

If you hike far enough, you wont hear another hoochie mama, and the one your carring will work well too!  :twocents:

:chuckle: That's funny.  In my case it's the guy behind the hoochie mamma squeezing for all he's worth that sucks.  :chuckle:

The reason I don't like primos calls as much as others is their popularity. Elk learn very fast and when everyone is using the same call and everybody sounds the same, the elk tend to get call shy. I have had good success with the  "Berry Best" diaphragms, the single blue reed works good when they start to lock their lips. I have found that when the elk "shut up" that is the time I go to my dad's old hunting bag and pull out one of the old 20 year old calls,it usually get them going.

Even if you have the same call you won't sound the same.  My friend uses the same calls I do and we sound nothing alike.

thats one reason I used bearmanrics calls down in NM.  Everyone was running around using Primos, and I didn't sound anything like them, yet was still elky.

Im with rosscrazyelk, even if everyone had the same diaphram, no one sounds the same. Now Hoochies and the reed calls maybe, but mouth calls no way.

Im using the raging bull and a Chuckler now and love the combo. I was a die hard fan of the sonic dome before I fitted the raging bull.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me to.

I'm currently testing the mossback full throttle bugle...so far so good.  Easy location and display calls and grunts and squeels. I'll let you know about the 21st. of sept. ;)

My spin on this thread...

Use what ever makes you sound like the real deal.  If that is blowing through a Colostomy bag then do it.   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I like that Jim.....never tried that.....

I personnaly use Mouth reeds,  primos pack bugle(most the time), and a elknut mini chukler(just got recently last year)....with a couple good estrus calls.

But im a primos believer and now there calls work so i use em. But i can just about make an elk sound out of most tubes. Practice makes perfect my friend....Practice makes perfect. Or maybe just better than the guy next to you in the field.

I was thinking about getting Elknuts Chuckler.  Does anyone have one?  If so what do you think of it?
