Greatest Huntwa threads/stories of all time
« on: April 15, 2020, 01:26:09 PM »
So flippin tired of all the Covid threads so I figured I'd try and get people to shut up and do a bit of reading and remember why we are all on this site instead of just talking at each other :chuckle: there have been so many incredible hunts but also some incredible threads showing the best that humanity has to offer. The rally around Aaron's family. Keegans cancer battle, and the list just keeps going.

Few of my favorites are of course Coach's hunt for Big Nasty. The symbolism of that hunt was never really portrayed into words but anyone who was on huntwa at the time knew and fully felt the power of it all. The loss of Colockumelk was so fresh for all of us. That was TRULY huntwa's hunt!

Another favorite of mine was Jackalopes mountain goat hunt. I think we all love when deserving people draw dream tags. Josh has given all of us so much of his time and energy and has been spat on for his efforts so many times. Josh will be the first to tell you that he isn't some crazy hardcore backpacker but he approached his hunt with purpose and reverence. He worked hard and in turn took a fantastic goat!

Another that comes to mind is Gringo's sheep hunt and Shawn Ryan's elk hunt but I'm having issues finding links.

Please share some links to your favorites so all these non essentials can do some reading and we can all take a stroll down memory lane.

D-Mans Bobcat thread was pretty good. Not much of a story but entertaining.

I’m not sure how to respond to that nonsense, Karl. I’m a super hardcore backpack hunter. Not sure where you got your info from.

Thanks by the way.  Super nice of you to say all those things. I love the community here and am happy and proud of the things we have done together. The Aaron thing was a no brainer. I think that above anything else stands out for me. Next would be the Josh FROG stuff we did early on with Robodad. There were a lot of hunt threads too, but damn we can come together as a community when the chips are down. Maybe we should do some auctions to raise money to fight the ‘rona next. I bet Hunt WA could kick the ‘rona’s ass directly.

Think this could be a few categories,

There were great threads based on content and story telling,  and then there are train wreck threads, mostly just amusing in a weird way.

I won't call it a good one but the "Bullwinkle" thread bears mentioning.

mentioning train wreck threads would miss the mark and intent of this thread   :twocents:

I thought Hirshey’s Moose story was excellent. Actually any story she writes is easy to read and entertaining.

some excellent mentions, some I would mention in addition would be DBHAWTHORNE's quests,  really enjoyed riding along with him from trail camera to success.
