Floor less shelter stove
« on: April 16, 2020, 01:46:32 PM »
I was looking at the 3W stove for my floor less shelter. Easy set up looks nice. What stove do you have?

I use the Seek Outside XL stove in my Seek 8 man tipi.   Lots of use over the years.

Liteoutdoors xl stove.. ran it a few times and it’s been nice. Thinking about selling and switching over to seek outside so i can heat up food and cook on the flat surface. Many things to think about!

Another thing to think of is how fast these stoves burn out. Even xl the fire and the warmth doesn’t last too long

That’s ok at night I or we can stoke the fire. Or wake up early to warm up

Luxe 3W Wild Wild West.  Love the glass door, for light and just to be able to see the fire.

SXL Seek Outside for my 8 man.  Like others mentioned they aren't holding a fire all night, but I don't know of any packable options that would.  Wood quality helps the burn time.

It's great for cooking on, and I watched one of their recent videos on how to use a pan underneath for baking.

never understood why those really nice tents never have a floor.

They do, if you want to spend the coin and carry the weight.

The Earth is my floor!  :)

1. Saves weight.  Space to weight is great.  And in the 4 man+ tents, you can stand up in.
2. It's okay to spill coffee
3. Let the dog in...he doesn't have to wipe his paws.
4. Let the kids in...they never wipe their paws even when I ask them too.
5. Floors melt when you have hot stove.
6. Wear your boots.

Let yourself in without having to wipe your paws.  And stand up head room, without removing your boots.

Yes, I bought the extra rack to go under the XL Seek stove.  One of my luxury items to pack into the backcountry is pop tarts, and that rack works well for that.  Haven't tried baking bread or anything on it yet.
