I just looked at the proposed regs, anyone know more about the reductions?  A few areas I normally hunt got absolutely hammered, some of them lost all of certain tags, some went to private only while a bunch of units were unchanged.

Was it all due to winter kill in certain areas or is there a new management plan or strategy?

It's really bad is all I know. I was really disappointed, and sure didn't expect such drastic cuts. I think I read somewhere that it's due to the bad winter kill two years ago.

I think it is weather related. Some units didn't see any decreases and some even had increases.

One local that gave me some info for an area I may apply to said they expect poor fawn survival this spring in that area but the adults for the most part are doing good. Still snow on the ground there.
Ya those type 2 tags got hit hard. I liked hunting that early season combined with some fly fishing. those doe antelope tag are gone

Just retired at the end of Sept last year and all this S happens. So much for hunting a whole week in the NE. corner for turkey and my favorite selective fisheries lakes may not be fished until ?

I've been applying or hunting there for about 6 years now and I haven't seen anything like these cuts.  It's somewhat ironic as I had the bison tag this year and was cheering for tons of snow and cold and it never really happened so I had a bummer season due to lack of winter and now no season due to a bad winter in another part of the state.

At least it makes the decision whether to hunt MT or WY this year pretty easy.

I think there should be some real good horn growth with all the moisture as long as they can get to feed. I've been trying to get some info from the area biologist but no call back from them yet. When I get info for the areas I want to hunt then I'll make my decision.

Weird, I haven't heard Eastmans say a peep about this yet.  Usually they are on top of Wyoming stuff..

Yeah, I expected minor changes as I'm on Eastman's e-mail list as well as GoHunt and haven't heard anything yet.  Eastman usually writes pretty early since they are sitting in the middle of it and many times even as the winter kill is happening.

Probably better to wait until mid May to see what the winter kill was like in the area your going to apply to and then call the local biologist and GW to get their take on what the hunting will be like there.

That's one advantage of the application time being moved to the end of May.
