Rock Island 10mm
« on: April 22, 2020, 09:04:43 PM »
Anyone have a RI Ultra 10mm? I’m thinking about picking one up. Want to put a red dot on it and use it for deer hunting out of a blind on private property in a weapons restricted area this coming season. Pros/cons, reviews of the gun is much appreciated.

I have a Rock Island that's 1mm smaller :)  (9mm).   Its a decent gun for the money..

Go with the XDM 5.25 10mm.  A far better option, and the 15+1 capacity make it a better woods carry gun too.   :twocents:

I’m a 1911 guy. Have been for many years, so going with a 1911 for the 10mm just makes sense. I agree you get what you pay for. I have always wanted to harvest a deer with a pistol and this is what I thought up. The reviews I read inline are favorable.

They run. They are rough around the edges. However, they run.

The XDM is an option but, being two completely different platforms, there is a distinct lack of finer points for comparison.

I have a Sig 1911 TACOPS 10mm that is like new with very few rounds down the pipe.  If you're interested send me a PM or if you still have my number you can text or call.

Thats a decent price for a new XDM10. I would buy it, but I also like 10mm as I have a Colt Delta Elite, G20, G40.

Standard retail price.  Not on sale, but they rarely do go on sale, and then it's $569

Perhaps you want something a bit different like this EAA Witness Hunter

There is an optional as a well for adding optics.

Some nice guns. Nah, i’m pretty set on the RI. I just wanted feedback from owners on function and reliability. I appreciate all the replies. I’ll probably pick one up next month. I already bought powder to reload the 10mm, so I guess I have to but it😂. When I bought the powder my girlfriend said, “you don’t even have the gun yet.” I replied, “powder is like gold. Gotta get it while you can.”
